Dry card compass, possibly from a whaleboat, manufactured by "J. KEHEW/ NEW BEDFORD". In round green painted pine box with glass top and red glazing putty. Box has repaired split on side. John Kehew listed as mathematical instrument maker, nautical instrument maker, and dealer in nautical charts during the period c. 1840-1863.
