Brass sextant in a dovetailed mahogany keystone case, dated ca. 1850. Sextant has a silver inlaid scale under which is engraved maker's name: Geo Christian Liverpool (w. 1825-67). Case bears paper label: "By Appointment Admiralty Chart Agents / ALF. WILLINGS & CO.,/ MARINE OPTICIANS & / COMPASS ADJUSTERS / 73 CHURCH STREET, / WEST HARTLEPOOL ...". Case: 9 3/4" sides x 4 7/8" high
