Half model of canal boat type vessel with scow type bow and rounded stern. Four vertical lifts rather than horizontal lifts, scribed waterline. Formerly owned by Capt. William Skiddy (1795-1870) of New York and Stamford, CT, who commanded packets FRANCOIS I (1829-32), GARONNE (1832-35), RHONE (1836-38), GARRICK (1841-44) and J. R. SKIDDY (1845-46); settling in New York City he became involved in superintending construction vessels, including McKay-built packet NEW WORLD (1846) and steamship CORTES (1852).
