Full model of fishing vessel VIRGINA MARISE connected to Point Judith, RI, built by Henry Clifford "Clifford" Whaley during the 1940s for his brother Joseph Congdon Whaley (see handwritten note on June 1947 copy of "The Sextant" in correspondence file). Model presents the vessel with main and mizzenmast poles; only mizzenmast has a sail. Rope and wood ladder attached to the main mast. Enclosed cabin and access to below deck added to stern of the model. Model painted black and green around the hull and red around the keel; starboard side of the hull stained or painted with unknown material, crackled effect on the surface. Rigging appears to be all intact but is loose in places. Overall fair condition; fabric of the sail has yellowed/faded, rigging is loose in places, surface very dusty and in need of cleaning. Overall: 24 1/2 x 29 1/2 x 7 in.
