Cutaway model made by Robert L. Evans, of whaling bark CHARLES W. MORGAN; scale 1/4" to the foot. [A] is starboard section with full main deck; measures 41"l x 34"h x 11"w; starboard side has 1 whaleboat on davits aft with 3 men and equipment, cutting stage with 2 men on stage and 2 men working lines, 5 men on deck, 2 aloft; 19 sails set; Wing house flag on mainmast, US ensign on spanker; port deck has 3 whaleboats on davits, 1 man in bow boat, 1 at housetop, 2 men in waistboat, 2 men aft with one on housetop; 'tweendecks are furnished, 10 casks in blubber room; hold has casks and stone ballast. [B] port section has 4 men on deck, 3 men in aft quarters, 1 man in blubber room, 1 in fo'c'sle, 1 in hold; Port side exterior has copper sheathing removed to reveal structural layers down to framing. Plaque in case astern of vessel reads "WHALING BARK/ CHARLES W. MORGAN/ c. 1900/ SCALE 1:48/ RLE 1987". Gallery describes as: Framed in Walnut, with cherry deck beams, maple deck planks and basswood interior planking. Hull in copper clad. Case dimensions: 39-1/2" x 48" x 22"
