Photograph album; contains silver prints mounted on paper within blue photograph album; photographed by Carleton Mitchell; contains photographs 1996.31.6009.1 - .45; taken while on board aircraft carrier USS RANGER on assignment; Carleton Mitchell was officer in charge of the U.S. Navy Combat Photographic Unit from 1942 - 1945; he was aboard RANGER to assess how the photographic units were functioning and what problems there might be; they sailed from Norfolk, VA. and its mission was to deliver Army P-40 fighter planes to North Africa; Feb.- March 1943; views of heavy cruiser TUSCALOOSA; which was also on the same task force.
