Dovetailed sea chest with incised lettering on top: "1780/ ELISHA-HINMAN/ Master SHIP DEANE/ N. LONDON". Lid of 3 tongue and groove planks. Has 2 metal handles on ends; metal strap hinges and lock with flat face plate. Molding strip applied to bottom front sides, lid overhangs. Series of 8 vertical grooves along inside of front and back. Wide shallow area chiseled out of top left inside lid.
