Length of silk damask-weave fabric, approximately 10.75 ft. L x 1.5 ft W, for fabrication of a Japanese han-haba, a half-width obi, woven in a linear floral pattern with 23 in. repeat, dyed intense orange; two handwritten characters on one selvage, naming fabric owner, is suggestive of a dancer, most often the wearer of han-haba style obis; character stamped at one cut end reads 'new fabric' , or 'cut from the bolt'; a single piece of stiff linen, with accession number "53.3987" written in ink, detached from one cut end, remains of two.
