Brass fire extinquisher with mount, operated by hand pump; label (copyright 1917) reads, in part, "PYRENE FIRE EXTINGUISHER/ . . . No. P 15016/ . . ."; much of label illegible; originally held one quart of carbon tetrachloride, marketed especially for use in vehicles and vessels (installed on the QUEEN MARY in 1933); popular advertising read "There's safety afloat with Pryene in the boat."
