Silver flask; screw top and removable cup at base shaped to fit. Obverse is convex, engraved: "This is the Legacy of the brave/ Captn Samuel Blyth/ who was killed in the brig "Boxer"/ in Battle with the American/ Ship 'Enterprise' 1812/". Reverse is concave. Flask is hallmarked with 4 designs partially obliterated & cloverleaf design & initials T P E R on bottom. 2 rings on flask & 2 on cup for attaching lanyard. Made in London, 1790, by T. Phipps & E. Robinson, during reign of George III. Metal stopper was supplied 5/36 by Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Peter Guille, Lts. of 668 Fifth Ave., NYC. American commander was Capt. Wm. Burrows. He was also mortally wounded in same action. Captain Blyth and he lie side by side in Portland, Maine cemetery.
