Matted and framed watercolor and gouache painting of the packet ship QUEEN OF THE WEST; port side view; starboard tack; black hull with white gunports; bluff bowed. Flying the house flag of Grinnell, Minturn & Co., Liverpool and NY of the New Line; blue w/white tails. 3 signal flags - B, T, and K which mean "vessel carrying mail". Men furling fore topgallant; mizzen topgallants and course furled. Background of blue sky and sails of a distant vessel under the bowsprit. Signed in lower right hand corner: 'CHARLES ROSNER/ '66". Printed on back top left: "PACKET SHIP 'QUEEN OF THE WEST'/ BUILT 1835". Wooden frame painted antique gold; mat has gold and blue stripes. Frame chipped; paper yellowing.
