US naval officer's dress sword of 1841; blade engraved. Obverse, reading from tip up: Waves, floral motif, eagle under "Liberty" banner, crossed flags, "United States Navy" in oval, flower and oak leaves. Reverse, in same order: Waves, floral motif, eagle, Indian, oak leaves, anchor and line, floral, "London Manufactori," oak leaves. Handle of bone and brass, eagle head pommel, two-piece folding guard. Scabbard of leather and brass has been repaired.
