Model of Cocos & Keeling Island whaleboat; made by natives to sell to passing ships. Boat equipped with very long gaff mainsail; jib has low foot; sail plan roughly that of American boat of early 1900's; rudder has tiller ropes; still has bow chocks and even pin, but warp box and cuddy board much modified; chain plates and wire shrouds, wire forestay; has deep keel and deadwood; stem plumb; tumble in midship sections; full foreward; narrow hull; construction and layout of thwarts and interior much modified; sail plan and lines retain many whaleboat features; beam, depth, amount of sheer about same.
