Engraving showing a three quarter view of the first of the floating churches built by members of Episcopal Churches in NYC, a structure in the Gothic style, moored in the East River at the foot of Pike Street, from the publication "The Evergreen", April 1845. Reads, beneath the image: " THE FLOATING CHURCH OF OUR SAVIOUR, FOR SEAMEN. / Built New York, Feb 15th, 1844, on a deck of 76 by 36 feet covering 2 Boats of 80 tons each and 10 feet apart. Dimensions Length / 70 feet width -30" permanently moored at the foot of Pike St. East River N.Y. / Engraved Expressly for the Evergreen "; church constructed by ship joiner Charles M.
