Glass negative by Capt. George Comer, taken in the Canadian Arctic, 1897-1912. Depicts "Harry" [Ippaktuq Tasseok] carving walrus tusk. Harry is referred to in the North as Comer's "mate", and was the leader of a group of Inuit known as the Aivilik or Aivillingmuit. These Innuit of the west coast of Hudson Bay were closely associated with Comer and the American whalers for many years. Lantern slide 1966.339.1 was made from this negative.
