Glass negative by Capt. George Comer, taken at Cape Fullerton, Hudson Bay, April 13, 1905. Depicts "Harry" [Ippaktuq Tasseok] and his wife "Panty [sic]" demonstrating a shamanistic ritual. Comer describes this as "an older method of anticooting [sic] known of the Iwilic [Aivilik] tribe." Comer indicated that in communicating with the spirit world, "if the head comes up easy it means yes, otherwise no." 1966.339.82 and 1963.1767.52 appear to depict the same scene. Information from original envelope identifies this as Photo 163.
