8x10 safety negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons July 9, 1935. Interior view of SAGA showing the engine room with the two Packard engines. Charles S. Payson had the 69'9" commuter cruiser SAGA built in 1935 by the Wheeler Shipyard in Brooklyn. SAGA was ordered with twin V-12 Packard engines, producing speeds in excess of 40 m.p.h. to beat Jock Whitney's 1928 APHRODITE on their runs to and from Manhattan from adjoining estates on Manhasset Bay, New York. Typed neg. sleeve info.: "50184 / 7/9/35 / [Box] 2350-17 / SAGA-69' designed & built at Wheeler / equipped with 2 Packards / owned by Charles S. Payson / Engine room".
