Beaded "glengarry" cap from Niagara Falls area, New York, produced by local Native Americans in response to the tourist trade; patterned after uniform caps of British Canadian soldiers, in turn based on Scottish styles popularized by Queen Victoria in 1850's; with beadwork and embroidery favored by Iroquois and Wabanaki women; worn by both Native Americans and tourists; multicolored floral and geometric designs on a dark wool base cover the crown and sides; cotton lining and edging.
