Dalmatic, silk brocade. Open sides; 3/4 length sleeves open; overall shape: A-line; boat neck. Garment composed of panels of 2 different silk brocades:one, blue w/small multi-colored flowers; the other, white w/large multi-colored flowers. Each panel trimmed w/gold braid as are edges of garment. Lined w/white linen, interlined. This vestment worn by deacon or acting deacon while assisting priest in celebration of Eucharist. Blue color is most likely for special feast day. Thought to be 18th cent. French.
