Wood engravings from the 8/31/1887 issue of "Harper's Weekly" concerning the inshore bait fishery of Newfoundland, after sketches by J. W. Hayward. Upper scene by "Fred. S. Cozzens/ 87" shows reporters in small schooner speaking to American fishermen on another schooner, entitled "INTERVIEWING NEWFOUNDLAND FISHERMEN AS TO THE PRESENCE OF CRUISERS INSHORE." Lower scene shows another American fishing schooner close inshore with dorymen hauling in nets along shore, entitled: "HAULING CAPELIN BAIT AT HOLYROOD, CONCEPTION BAY," artist's signature illegible.
