Visible in image: starboard bow view of the cutter, DEFENDER with gaff-rigged mainsail, topsail, genoa jib and spinnaker raised, undersail, running free, crew at work. Mainsail covering most of vessel's deck aft. In the distance to the right is an unidentified steam yacht. Written on negative sleeve: "Defender / Y421B / Sloop / Bolles / Box 27".
