Image is a posed closeup taken at the Detroit Races, August 28, 1921. The event participated in was the race for the Harmsworth Trophy which MISS AMERICA II won. Gar Wood was well known as a famous hydroplane racer and boat builder and his invention of a hydraulic lift for dump trucks provided him with the money to spend on his hobby.
