8 x 10 contact print made by Rosenfeld and Sons, from an 8 x 10 glass plate negative taken by Charles Edwin Bolles on July 4, 1894. Port beam view of the compromise sloop ATHLON under sail, seen reaching. ATHLON was built in 1884, at a time when sloops were typically wide and shallow, while cutters were narrow and deep.
