Alden designed, Casey Boat Building Company built auxiliary cutter, built in 1938 in Fairhaven, Massachusetts and was owned in 1959 by Roger S. Pile. Previous names were NAUSHON, VOLANTE, GAYLE, NOTLUF and by 1959 VOLANTE again. Negative sleeve manufacturers' stamp: "Negativ-Kartei Nr." and handwritten: "163222F" Stamped: "163222F / MAY 29 1959".
