5 x 7 copy negative of a photograph, from a 6 x 8 glass plate negative taken by Rosenfeld and Sons in 1915, off Larchmont Yacht Club. Copy negative was made on January 8, 1946, and is from a print depicting a cropped view of the original negative. Port bow view of the 75 foot cutter, RESOLUTE. Vessel seen racing on a port tack. In the distance is an unidentified boat, the shoreline, and light scattered clouds. This image has been printed most often with VANITIE cropped out completely, as seen in A CENTURY UNDER SAIL, page 36. The original negative is now cracked, all copy negative made show only RESOLUTE, some with clouds added as seen in the book. This image was taken at the America's Cup Trial races, the actual Cup race was postponed due to World War I, and resumed in 1920, which was the last race with the more traditional gaff rigs and large topsails seen here. For more information see: A CENTURY UNDER SAIL, text by Stanley Z. Rosenfeld, page 36. Typed on negative sleeve: "orig. neg.1221-S / 113125F 1/8/46 / copy of photo of RESOLUTE / 4881".
