6x8 glass negative made by Morris Rosenfeld, 1916. A bow view of Star Class #59, TINY STAR, ex MERCURY II, close hauled on a port tack. Two men are in the cockpit: one at the tiller; one appears to be changing position. Star Class # 3, ALTAIR is in the background under starboard tack on a broad reach. Image was taken on Long Island Sound, 1916. TINY STAR, later renamed AURORA, was lost in 1919 while racing on the last Saturday of Larchmont Race Week. Her crew were picked up, however, she was never recovered. Written on the original negative sleeve: "L. Y. C. 1916 / Cover / Star 59 / Plate 1215 Box 96".
