Image of 260.4' Robert Steele & Co. ship TUSITALA (built 1883 in Greenock, Scotland) under tow by the Federal Shipbuilding Co. tugboat FEDERAL NO. 1 in port of New York. Visible in image: port beam view of the tug with nameboards: "FEDERAL SHIPBUILDING & DRY DOCK CO. / FEDERAL NO.1", towing the ship, viewed from the port bow, on a downwind tack with fore, main and mizzen staysails [not forestaysail], upper and lower topsails, topgallants and royals, and inner and outer jibs raised, thick black smoke billows out of the tugboat's smoke stack across the upper portion of this image, an unidentified tugboat can barely be seen along the starboard side of the ship being towed. TUSITALA-Samoan for "teller of tales" (ex SOPHIE, SIERRA LUCENA, and INVERUGLAS) was used to carry cargo from ports around the world for the Farrell Lines.
