Full plate ambrotype of Elmina Castle, a Dutch fort on the Gold Coast, present day Ghana. Three brigs in distance, one possibly saluting with cannon. Thatched roof buildings in foreground. This was Dutch enclave 1637-1872. Photograph is dated circa 1865. Backed with black velvet, framed in modern gold frame with white oval mat. Ref: A.W.
