3 3/4 x 2 1/2 safety negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons in 1956. Image of HUSTLER undersail, bow on view, running before the wind with spinnaker set and mainsail reaching with a crewman adjusting the spinnaker pole on mainmast. In the distance is a lighthouse on rock island and miscellaneous sails dot the shoreline. HUSTLER was an auxiliary sloop, sail #178, a 36'8" Sparkman & Stephens,Inc. design built by Kretzer Boat Works of City Island, New York in 1936 as RAINEY. Other later names were CELIA and SUNSHINE. Owners in 1956 were A.A. Clifford Hansen and Ida E. Hansen. Stamped on original negative sleeve: “152857F“ and handwritten: "178 / HUSTLER". CREDIT LINE: Mystic Seaport, Rosenfeld Collection.
