The Whitneys continued to prosper during the depression years. In this image, the family has gathered at the Yale-Harvard Race of 1937, showing both of the brothers-in-law's commuters rafted alongside Mrs. Payne Whitney's CAPTIVA, a 111' motor yacht built by Mathis in 1931.
