From left to right, starboard beam view, are SAVANNAH, #27; VOLANTE, #G17, DAUNTLESS; VAMARIE; and GRENADIER, #8. Behind DAUNTLESS, DORADE's sail #16 is visable. The race began June 24, 1934 from New London, CT with Class B leaving at 8:30a.m. EST and the larger class(es) leaving 30 minutes later. EDLU, owned by R. J. Schaefer went on to win top honors. Typed and stamped on original negative sleeve: "68260-F / BERMUDA 1934 / [box] 4033" and written: "Bermuda Race / Class B". [This image is misidentified as the start of 'Class B' when, in fact, it is the start of Class A vessels and the one Class C vessel - ketch ASTARTE].
