8 x 10 nitrate negative taken by Rosenfeld and Sons on April 24, 1924. Morris Rosenfeld received a commission to photograph the United States Lines' newest passenger ship, the REPUBLIC, leaving us a detailed record of the interior of a great ocean liner. This image details a kitchen staff member filling an enamel pitcher with coffee. Coffee was the essential beverage aboard ship. Presumably, the white enamel pots and heavy white cups were for doling it out to third-class passengers. Handwritten on original negative sleeve; "S/S REPUBLIC / interior / Box 1293".
