International Sweepstakes Races (1923)

Races

Formed by the Yachtsman's Association of America in 1923 until 1928 (race was abandoned after 1928 due to the resumption of the Harmsworth Races). Purse in 1923 was $25.000. Held on the Detroit River and the run was for 150 miles. Fifteen boats competed and only 8 finished. Entrants were: PACKARD CHRIS-CRAFT II, PACKARD CHARIS-CRAFT III, MISS PACKARD (DNF), TEDDY, Gar Wood boat (winner of race), BRUIN, Gar Wood boat (DNF), GREYHOUND, JR., John Stroh's boat (DNF), NICK-NACK (DNF), and others.
