Imageis a view of steamers at Alexandria Bay, New York on the St. Lawrence River. Steamer MAGNET on the right. MAGNET, later renamed HAMILTON, was built in 1847 in Niagra, Ontario, by James Currie. She was rebuilt several times and became a barge in 1909 (ref: Heyl, "Early American Steamers"; Vol. 3). Handwritten on the mount: "Alexandria Bay and 1000 Island Park / McIntyre's Views of the 1000 Islands". On the reverse: "A. C. McIntyre, / Alexandria Bay, River St. Lawrence / . . ."
