5 x 7 glass plate negative taken by Morris Rosenfeld in August 1924. View of the runabout racer NINE NINETY NINE burning in the 150 Mile Sweepstakes Race at the Detroit Races. NINE NINETY NINE caught fire on her 18th lap, she burned and sank. She had been named after Henry Ford's racing car, the "999". Rollar coaster in background, unidentified. Handwritten on original negative sleeve: "Aug 1924 / T 999 / burning T99 / Detroit Races / Box 1164".
