5x7 safety negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons on May 23, 1936 at the Jakobson yard, Brooklyn, New York. Image of the owner and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Baruch, standing on KIRAWAN after it has slid into the water after being launched, starboard bow view with many workmen assisting with lines. In the background to the left is a partial view of a very large yacht with a man in a small boat working on the hull. To the the right is a working steamer with the name JAMES D. on the bow and an "S" on the smokestack. To the right of that is a large work boat and then a smaller one. On the far right is a vessel named, LOTUS. In the distant background on a hill are many spectators. KIRAWAN was a 53 ft. auxiliary cutter designed by Philip L. Rhodes of Cox & Stevens, Inc. and built by Jakobson & Peterson, Inc. in 1936 for Robert P. Baruch of New York. Stamped neg. sleeve info.: "74844F / [Box] 4248". Handwritten: "Kirawan launching".
