6x8 glass negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons during the time of the Fire Island Race, sponsored by the National Yacht Club, from Bensonhurst, New York to Fire Island on August 12, 1911. Image of KITSIX underway, port beam view, off-centered to the right of the negative, shoreline in the background. KITSIX was a 32'6" screw launch designed by M.M. Whitaker and built by Alex Simpson of New York in 1911. Her owner in 1911 was F.D. Gheen and KITSIX was the winner of the Fire Island Race that year in the power boat division.
