8 x 10 glass plate negative taken by Morris Rosenfeld circa 1912. View of Bethesda Fountain: The Angel of the Waters, and Bethesda Terrace. This fountain was sculpted by Emma Stebbins (1815-1882) in 1869. It was the only sculpture commissioned as a part of the original Park and named the sculptor as the first woman to receive a commission for a major work of art in New York City. The Terrace was constructed from 1859-1863 and was designed by Calvert Vaux and Jacob Mould (English). Handwritten on original negative sleeve: "P.D. / fountain".
