5 x 7 glass plate negative taken by Rosenfeld and Sons at the Gloucester Races, in 1923. Starboard bow view of the aircraft carrier LANGLEY. U.S.S. LANGLEY was first US Navy carrier. On October 17, 1922, the first plane was launched from her deck (VE7-SF). She was in Norfolk, VA from June 13, 1923 to mid 1924 for training. Handwritten on original negative sleeve: "Gloucester Race / Aeroplane Carrier / Box 983".
