8 x 10 Kodak safety negative taken by Rosenfeld and Sons on May 16, 1934. View of a married print [composite] camera mounted on a tripod on the back of an automobile. These cameras quickly replaced the Vitaphone process, as they recorded sound at the same time as the image recording, adding practicality for outdoor filming and opened doors for news agencies to do on site coverage. This camera produced a print with picture and sound combined on one piece of film. [REF: "The Oxford Companion To Film", edited by Liz-Anne Bawden, Oxford University Press, 1976.] The car in this photograph has New York registration plates N.84.51 NY 34, and has tires made by General Tire & Rubber Co., Akron, OH. Typed on original negative sleeve: "44081 / 5/16/34 / Elec Research Products, Inc. / 250 West 57th St, City / Miss Canavan / Movietone equipment in use".
