4 x 5 copy negative made from a print. Original print was from a 5 x 7 glass plate negative, taken by Rosenfeld and Sons on October 3, 1925. View of the three masted ship TUSITALA, seen under tow by FEDERAL NO. 1, entering the port of New York. Port beam view of the tug on the left of the composition, towing the ship on the right. Thick black smoke is seen billowing out of the tugboats smoke stack across the upper portion of this image. An unidentified tugboat can barely be seen along the starboard side of the ship being towed. TUSITALA, built in 1883, was used to carry cargo from ports around the world. She is seen here with a heavy load and light winds. She sailed by the Farrell Lines, and underwent several name changes before TUSITALA in 1925, a Samoan word meaning "teller of tales".
