Green cotton drawstring bag for fishing kit made for the Special Service Division of the United States Army by Ashaway Line & Twine Mfg. Co, circa 1943. Drawstring bag divided into four areas to hold contents; plastic tube with cork stoppers containing hooks and attachments, large metal hook painted black, and two reels of lines of different thicknesses. Fishing kit instructions also included; instructions state the kit was designed by Michael Lerner, Philip Wylie, and Julian Crandall of the International Game Fish Association of the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Stamped on front of bag 'FISHING KIT / HAND FISHING OUTFIT FOR USE ON FRESH OR SALT WATER. INQUIRE ABOUT THE BEST BAIT FOR USE IN YOUR LOCALITY. DRY LINE WHEN THROUGH FISHING.
