View of the facade of the Murray Hill commercial telephone office, New York City, October 31, 1917. Building has street number 72, though street is not identified. Office windows are pasted with war loan posters reading: "Lend Your Money to Your Government / BUY A UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT BOND / SECOND LIBERTY LOAN OF 1917 / U.S. Treasury will pay you interest every six-months", and ""WOMEN! / HELP AMERICA'S SONS / WIN THE WAR", and "THE TIME HAS COME TO / CONQUER OR SUBMIT.- / FOR US THERE IS BUT ONE / CHOICE. WE HAVE MADE IT- / PRESIDENT WILSON / BUY A BOND OF THE / 2ND LIBERTY LOAN / AND / HELP WIN THE WAR". Several Bell Telephone and New York Telephone Company posters also seen. A large chart reading: "SAVE and SERVE BUY LIBERTY BONDS" hangs over the front door. Window flanked by signs reading: "AMERCAN TELEPHONE & TELEGRAPH CO AND ASSOCIATED COMPANIES / LOCAL / LONG / DISTANCE / TELEPHONE / BELL SYSTEM / BOOTHS / AND / OPERATOR".
