Published New York by C. E. Horn, 1840. Cover in various scrolls and typefaces. Handwritten in pencil upper left "Dup/ E.F.W." and "Dichter p. 56", and rubberstamped signature in red lower right "C. E. Horn". Mrs. Willard, headmistress of the Troy Female Seminary from 1821, wrote this song while on an ocean voyage. It was introduced by Knight at a concert in New York City, 1839 (Ref: S. M.
