Cover in various scrolls and typefaces. Handwritten in pencil at top "later ed. of C353" and "Chas. B. Rogers". Mrs. Willard, headmistress of the Troy Female Seminary from 1821, wrote this song while on an ocean voyage. It was introduced by Knight at a concert in New York City, 1839 (Ref: S. M.
