Scholfield while on St. Croix island from December, 1870, to June, 1871, during which time he operated a photography studio,or taken at a later visit in 1877; photo shows a stone windmill with a pole called a tailpiece, used to rotate the entire roof to catch the wind; a man stands next to a loaded donkey cart at the fool to the mill; children sit on the ground; mounted stereograph 1977.268.126.
