11x14 gelatin silver print made from a 5x4 black and white internegative from an original 35mm color slide photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons on December 9, 1986. Image of 67' Scott Graham, Eric Schlageter, Jim Gretzky, and Duncan MacLane designed, Merrifield-Roberts built 12 meter sloop HEART OF AMERICA (built 1986 in Bristol, RI) and 62' Philippe Briand designed, Alubat built 12 meter sloop FRENCH KISS (built 1985 in Les Sables d'Olonne, France) at Louis Vuitton Cup race off Fremantle, Australia. Visible in image: port bow view of HEART OF AMERICA (US-51) leading FRENCH KISS running before the wind under marconi-rigged mainsails, genoas and spinnakers, the bowmen on both vessels are on the lines to the spinnaker poles, HEART OF AMERICA's bowman is climbing back onto the ship after releasing spinnaker from its pole, the bowman of FRENCH KISS is still out at the end of the pole releasing the spinnaker.
