Image of the 64' David Pedrick, Bruce Nelson, and Britton Chance design and Robert Derecktor built 12 meter sloop STARS & STRIPES (built 1986 in Mamaroneck, NY) and the 66' Bruce Farr, Ron Holland, Laurie Davidson design, McMullen & Wing and Marten Marine built 12 meter sloop NEW ZEALAND (built 1986 in Auckland, New Zealand) during the 5th and last race of the Louis Vuitton Cup challenger finals off Fremantle, Australia. Visible in image is a starboard beam view of STARS & STRIPES, #US-55, on the right and a port bow view of NEW ZEALAND, #K-27, on the left on a port close reach rounding the mark under marconi-rigged mainsails and genoas.
