11x14 gelatin silver made print from a 4x5 black and white internegative originally made from a 35mm color slide photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons on January 19, 1987. Image of 64' David Pedrick, Bruce Nelson, and Britton Chance designed, Robert Derecktor built 12 meter sloop STARS & STRIPES (built 1986 in Mamaroneck, NY) and 66' Bruce Farr, Ron Holland, Laurie Davidson designed, McMullen & Wing and Marten Marine built 12 meter sloop NEW ZEALAND (built 1986 in Auckland, New Zealand) at Louis Vuitton Cup fifth race of challenger finals off Fremantle, Australia. Visible in image: cropped starboard beam view of STARS & STRIPES (US-55) and port bow view of NEW ZEALAND on port close reach rounding the mark under marconi-rigged mainsails and genoas, city in background.
