7x5 glass plate negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons, ca. 1917. View of 3 women telephone operators, 2 standing and 1 sitting, posed for a formal picture. Two of the younger women are wearing a WWI military style uniform with gloves and armbands. The insignia on the armbands looks like a car with a light at the top, this giving the impression that they may be ambulance drivers (?). The collars of their jackets have "U. S." on one side and a pair of crossed flags with a staff through the crossed part on the other. The military style caps also have a pin with the crossed flags and staff on them. The 3rd woman has no armband or insignias that can be seen and is wearing a wide brimmed hat and a scarf. As the 3 women all have a similiar facial look, they may be mother and daughters or 3 sisters. Handwritten negative sleeve info.: "Telephone operators / Box 337." No original negative number.
